Mary Ann Ide, daughter of John William and Ruth B. Neville Roberts, was born August 6, 1933 in Creston, Iowa. She attended Creston High School. She married Jerry Ide, June 6, 1949, and to that union six children were born. Mary Ann was primarily a homemaker, but after moving to Oskaloosa in 1966, she worked the motor route for the Oskaloosa Herald for ten years and then operated the kitchen at Elmhurst Country Club for 20 years. She retired in 1998. Mary Ann enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s ballgames and events at the Daily Auditorium; and she was interested in current events. Her passion for cooking wasn’t depleted by her work at Elmhurst; one of her favorite activities was cooking and baking for her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Her family includes her children: Joanna and David Temple of Oskaloosa; Jan and Michael Morris of West Des Moines; Julia and Dennis Sills of Las Vegas, NV; Allen and Deborah Ide of Davenport, IA; Jim and Barbara Ide of Oskaloosa; and Jay and Cheryl Ide of Tulsa, OK; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Knowles of Byron, CA.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Care Initiatives Hospice.
