Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday morning, October 25, 2011 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Reverend Sam Beltz of St. John Lutheran Church officiating.
Interment: Forest Cemetery.
Mildred passed away early Saturday morning at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 3 days,
Mildred Bruere, daughter of Charles L. and Margaret K. Oliverson Holden, was born July 19, 1926 in Oskaloosa. She attended school in Oskaloosa. July 19, 1944, she married Clyde Donald “Don” Bruere in Oskaloosa. They made their home in Oskaloosa and Mildred worked as a secretary at Ideal Manufacturing for over 40 years. Mildred enjoyed golf and reading. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary and a past member of B.P.W.
She is survived by a sister, Shirley Kohlert of Colorado Springs, CO and several nieces and nephews including: Donna & Kenneth Van Mersbergen and Pam Werner of Oskaloosa and Kenneth & Darlene Loynachan of Knoxville.
Besides her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Don on May 25, 1992; an infant son, Donald Dennis Bruere; three sisters: Twyla Fleck, Janice Fry, Betty Lathrop; and a brother, Fred Holden.
