Work On Trail Head Nearly Completed
Workers completed another 21 yard concrete pour to help bring the new trail head one step closer to completion
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Brian Booy and his crew spent most of Thursday morning finishing up pouring the last of 21 yards of concrete that will make up the parking lot of the new trail head.
The new parking location will give access to the trail just east of the new Nazarene Church location along A Ave. Once parked, riders will be able to take the new access trail down the hill to link up with the existing trail.
The Rotary Club of Oskaloosa, along with grants, have helped to make this spot possible. A Gazebo is featured at the spot for relaxing before and after a ride.”I think this is going to be awesome, because eventually you’ll have all four quarters hooked up”, Booy said of the added access to the trail.
“Carl Drost, Alan Fender and I have been working together on this project”, Booy said about just a few of the people helping to make this project come together.
The connecting trail loops around to the trail below. This could also possibly give more access in the future for those looking for a walking path to gain access to the businesses that have sprung up on the west side of town, bypassing some portions of A Ave at the present time.
“I think the rec trail, as far as the whole trail itself, is a good selling point for people that want to come to the community and see what we have to offer. You know, having a trail that a family could walk on or ride a bike on is a good thing”, Booy stated as to why he believes in the project.
Friday will mark the end of Brian Booy’s involvement with the project, once they cut the concrete. They have poured approximately 90 yards of concrete and spent a week and a half worth of work with a crew of 6 people. “It’s been a pretty nice job for us”, Booy said about the project, that’s nearing it’s completion, “I just hope that down the road we can do more of this for the community”.
Plans are in the works to further develop the area, and hopes are to find a business to jump on board and continue the growth of the area.
