New Stadium Bleachers at the Lacey Recreation Complex Sparkle!

The new stadium has had many visitors this season and with that comes a certain amount of dirt and sticky concession spills. “Sticky things and dirt just mean the stadium is busy” stated Vavra of MCRF. “And user groups have been great to clean up after their games.”

For an added shine, John Ottoson of William Penn and Pastor Jarred Pierce of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints Church organized a service project to give the bleachers extra attention.

Pastor Pierce said that service projects are encouraged from the church office in Salt Lake City but which service projects are left up to congregation. “We wanted to get a project that whole families could participate in and learn to enjoy working together,” he stated.

“The bike trail came up and stadium and the group voted for the stadium.” The pastor and 30 volunteers from the church came to the Lacey Recreation Complex on Saturday, October 8th to clean bleachers. The group brought mops, brooms, buckets, sponges, soap and all manner of cleaning supplies to make sure they did a thorough end-of-the-season cleaning. “I think we would be happy to do it again and use pressure washers”, said Pastor Pierce, “I had fun!”

OHS played the last varsity home game on October 7th but are still in the running for state playoffs at the end of October. William Penn also draws near an end of their soccer and football season at the new stadium.
