This Day in Iowa Weather History August 21
2004: Unseasonably cool weather spread across much of Iowa with temperatures dipping into the upper 30s in northern sections of the state during the early morning hours. The lowest temperature of 36 F was recorded at Cresco, Estherville, Independence, Mason City, and Spencer. This was the earliest in the season that a temperature so low had been reported in Iowa since 1964.
