Oskaloosa PD File Charges in “Meth Lab” Case

Oskaloosa, Iowa – On September 20th 2011 at about 4:25 pm, Investigators with the Oskaloosa Police Department, the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Human Services arrived at what was believed to be the residence of Amanda Lynn Lunsford at 501 South B Street to investigate a complaint of a possible clandestine methamphetamine laboratory or “Meth lab” on the premises. The allegation indicated that the meth lab put Lunsford’s six children in danger. An inactive meth lab which included over five grams of a methamphetamine mixture was located in the yard of the residence. All toxic substances were collected and removed from the scene. Further investigation led to the filing of charges against Amanda Lynn Lunsford who had moved to Agency, Iowa. On October 4th 2011, Lunsford was arrested in Wapello County and transported to the Mahaska County Jail where she is held on a $50,000 bond. Lunsford is charged with manufacturing more than five grams of methamphetamine a class B felony, six counts of wanton neglect of a dependent person, a class C felony, and one count of child endangerment, a class D felony. The investigation is ongoing and further criminal charges may be filed at a later date.

A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
