Jason Darland
Newton. Jason Darland, 36 of Newton and formerly of Montezuma died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 due to injuries sustained from a house fire. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jason Darland Memorial Fund to be used for his children’s education.
Jason Wynton Darland, son of Kenneth Darland and Cheryl (DeLong) Cox was born on December 17, 1974 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Jason graduated from Montezuma High School in 1993 and Indian Hills Community College in 1995 with an Associate Degree in Robotics. On September 1, 2007, Jason was united in marriage to Heather Roberts in Des Moines. To this union twin children were born, Jackson and Autumn. Jason worked as the control Engineer for Firestone for 6 years before starting his own business with three partners in Des Moines called Aspen Automation. Jason was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Bear fan. He enjoyed golfing, having family Sunday dinners at his dads and above all playing and spending time with his children.
Jason is survived by his wife, Heather Darland of Newton; his twin children, Jackson and Autumn Darland; his parents, Kenneth and Debbie Darland of Montezuma; his mother, Cheryl Cox of Ironwood, Michigan; four sisters, Shanel (Wes) Fahlenkamp of Montezuma; Sheila (Greg) Smith of Brisbane, Australia, Tanya (Bret) Moyer of Montezuma and Chelsea Cox of Ironwood, Michigan; a brother, Travis (Erin) Henkle of Malcom; paternal grandparents, Carl and Hallene Darland; a maternal grandfather, Jim De Long; a maternal grandmother, Judy Thompson; parents-in-law, Terry and Judy Anderson of Ames; four sisters-in-law, Harmony Roberts, Charity (Larry) Faber, Bethany (Tony) Gaul and Amber (Ryan Jordan) Cross; two brothers-in-law, Gabriel (Tricia) Roberts and Duane Anderson; 20 nieces and nephews, Levi, Seth, Aly, Jayden, Jessie, L.J., Laila, Tristan, Lily, J.J., Shayla, Greggory, Cheyenne, Shania, Megan, Shelby, Aydin, Kolton, Hope and Reagan.
Jason was preceded in death by a maternal grandmother, Colleen De Long; maternal grandfather, Lester Thompson; a father-in-law, Keith Roberts and mother-in-law, Candy Barnes.
