Becoming a Greener Church

Oskaloosa, Iowa – St. Paul Congregational United Church of Christ is working to become a “greener” church using materials from Interfaith Power and Light, an Earth Stewardship Program. A prayer: ” Give us reverence for the earth as Your own creation, that we may use its resources rightly in service to others and to Your honor and glory.” Reverence for the created order is an essential part of being a person of faith. More and more people of faith are feeling called to “live more simply so that others may simply live.” Some parts of this effort include understanding and measuring our carbon footprint, finding ways to reduce energy usage, and making the effort to be improve.

Interested folks from the community are invited to be our guest and join us Sunday, August 28, 11:30 a.m. for a “green lunch”, featuring green (or partly green) food, an event to increase awareness of caring for creation. Bring your appetite and smiles, enjoy our green food (one of our activities toward being a “Cooler Congregation”), downstairs at 501 High Ave E.
