Dorothy M. Wolf, 92, of Grinnell died July 18, 2011, at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center in Grinnell. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at the Carmen Center of the Mayflower Community with the Rev. John Epperson of Grinnell officiating. Pianist will be Pat Saxton. Honorary bearers will be Jim Anderson, Danny Carroll, John Green, Jim LaCasse, Ray Lang and Terry Lowry. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation with family present will be held one hour prior to service at the Carman Center. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grinnell Christian Church, Mayflower Human Needs Fund or Parkinson’s Foundation.

Dorothy was born March 11, 1919, on a farm near Webster City, the daughter of James and Mary Sylvester Henderson. She was raised in the Webster City area and was a 1937 graduate of Webster City High School. Following high school she was employed with the office of Dr. O.C. Buxton for several years.

On July 9, 1943, she was united in marriage to Warren J. “Bud” Wolf, in Bethany, Missouri. During World War II she lived in California while her husband served in the United States Army. After the war they returned to Webster City and later moved to the Mayflower Community in Grinnell in 1971.

Dorothy was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church where she was active as a deaconess, Leaders Class and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a Cub Scout den mother while in Webster City and the Searchlight Club and several quilt groups in Grinnell. She served on the Mayflower Review Committee for 25 years. She enjoyed needle-work, quilting, baking and socializing with family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Bob (Elaine) Wolf of Forest City, North Carolina and Bill Wolf of Fort Worth, Texas and two granddaughters, Stacy Wolf of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Whitney Wolf of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1995, and one brother, Wendell Henderson.
