Small Plane Crashes at Ottumwa Regional Airport
Ottumwa, Iowa – From Ottumwa Police Press Release
On June 30, 2011 at approximately 5:27 pm, the Ottumwa Police Department received a 911 telephone call of a plane crash at the Ottumwa Municipal Airport.
Upon arrival, officers found that a small, single seat airplane had crashed south of the southeast runaway. The operator of the aircraft was critically injured and was transported to the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Emergency personnel who responded included the Ottumwa Police Department, Ottumwa Fire Department, Wapello County Sheriff’s Department, Wapello County Rural Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, and emergency medical personnel from Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
The crash site is being maintained by the Ottumwa Police Department and the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department until officials with the FAA arrive Friday.
