Mount Pleasant Man Charged In Fremont Case

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Joseph Albert Trejo of Mount Pleasant, Iowa is currently being charged with Threats of Arson, a Class D Felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and or a fine not to exceed $7,500.

In an affidavit filed in District Court for Mahaska County, Trejo, 47, was also being charged with Public Intoxication.

The incident happened on June 25th around 9:54 p.m. at 201 North Chestnut in Fremont, Iowa. Allegedly Trejo was intoxicated and threatening to burn down an apartment building. Trejo was reported to have told several people that he was going to burn down the building after he lost, misplaced or (someone) had stolen, several CD’s and DVD’s.

According to the affidavit, Trejo believed it was someone inside the building that was responsible for his loss. The report goes on to say that Trejo did tell Jeremy Billingsly, Teresa Large, and Jeremy McClurg that he was going to burn the building down.

Billingsly reportedly lives in the building, while the others were only visiting.

Trejo was located at the Casey’s Store, located at 203 East Main, in Fremont.

A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
