June 16 Oskaloosa City Band Information

The Oskaloosa City Band held it's first concert of the evening Thursday night.

Whether it be rainy or sunny, the Oskaloosa City Band will perform on Thursday night at 8 p.m. If not on the bandstand in the City Park, the Band will be at Smokey Row Coffee House. Last week’s concert was fun inside, but the band missed the car horns.

This week, the band will perform 2 Karl King marches, “Call To Victory” and “Big Four”. Many of this week’s tunes were published by Oskaloosa’s own Barnhouse Publishing, including: “Beyond the Higher”, “The Light Eternal”, “Manhattan Beach” and “The Woodwind Polka”. Andrea Dursky will perform 2 tunes with the band this week, that were originally scheduled for last week. As always, Band Director, Bruce Peiffer, has selected a “fiery western tune” entitled, “Wild Wild West” by Richard Markow. The band will be debuting a medley of theme songs from “The Waltons” and “Little House on the Prairie”, written specifically for the band. Another song that will appeal to the “young at heart” is Jim Henson’s “The Rainbow Connection”.

Bring a chair and some friends to the concert and enjoy a wonderful Thursday night tradition in downtown Oskaloosa. For those of you who are “high tech”, you can now follow “OskaloosaCityBand” on Twitter, and please check out their new and improved Facebook page, and give them a ‘Like’ to keep up to date.
