The Oskaloosa City Band set for second concert of the summer

The Oskaloosa City Band will be playing once again this Thursday night at the bandstand in Central Park

Oskaloosa, Iowa- The Oskaloosa City Band is excited for their second concert of the summer on Thursday, June 9. This week, Andrea Dursky will be the featured vocalist, joining the band with “I Dreamed a Dream” and “June is Bustin’ Out All Over”, from the musicals “Les Miserables” and “Carousel”, respectively. The band will play several tunes published locally by C.L. Barnhouse Company, including: Ed Huckeby’s “Ascentium”, Andy Glover’s arrangement of “Colonel Bogey”, and Robert Sheldon’s “Infinite Horizons”. This week’s featured Western Overture for band will be “Laramie” by David Shaffer, also published by Barnhouse. The concert will be rounded out with a traditional Irish tune, “Mountain King Swing”, and a Beatles song. Finally, this week’s marches include: Karl King’s “Miss Liberty” and Henry Filmore’s “The Klaxon”.

This weekend promises to be full of activity on the square, so let’s start it off on a “good note” with a park full of listeners. As always, the band appreciates those affirming honks from the cars parked near by. In the event of rain, join us at Smokey Row Coffee House on the west side of the square.
