Central hosts women’s basketball summer camps

Central College

PELLA—The Central College women’s basketball team is hosting three summer camps. An individual skills and Lil’ Hoopers camp will be staged in July and a team camp will be held in August.

The two-day overnight individual skills camp is July 18-19 for middle school and high school girls entering grades 7-12. Campers will learn all aspects of the game, improving their basketball skills in a positive atmosphere with a focus on individual attention. The cost is $175 for overnight campers and $155 for commuters (meals included). Deadline for registration is July 1.

Also held July 18-19 is a Lil’ Hoopers camp for grades 1-6. The camp is designed to introduce the game of basketball and to develop skills in an enthusiastic and educational atmosphere. Campers will participate in stations and play games to practice learned skills. The camp runs from 7:30-11:30 a.m. and is $50. Register by June 17.

The high school team camp will be staged August 1-2. Squads will play at least four games each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. With an emphasis on gaining game experience and allowing coaches to work with squads, there will not be a tournament format and scores are not kept. The fee is $300 per team. A $100 deposit is due on or before the June 24 registration deadline and the balance is due on the first day of camp.

All three camps include a t-shirt and will be held at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex. Participants will need basketball shoes, athletic clothing and a small amount of spending money.

Online registration is available at www.dutchbasketballcamps.com. Registration forms can also be found on the camps page of the Central athletics website at www.central.edu/athletics.
