Saturday Accident On 63 Totals Two Vehicles

The Toyota Tacoma of Malisa Throckmorton took heavy damage in the Saturday accident on U.S. 63

Oskaloosa, Iowa- On Saturday, June 4, at 1:22 p.m. an accident in the Southbound lane of US 63, nearly 3 miles North of Eddyville, left 2 vehicles totaled and the occupants shaken.

Malisa Throckmorton of Unionville was driving South on US 63 in her 2006 Toyota Tacoma when she failed to notice a wagon being towed by a Dodge Ram 2500 and driven by Jerry Geib.

According to an accident report by the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, Geib was in the outside lane pulling the wagon at approximately 20 mph when he noticed the Tacoma of Throckmorton wasn’t slowing.

The accident scene as it appeared Saturday around 1:30 p.m.

Throckmorton struck the rear of the wagon, driving it into the rear of the Ram Pickup of Geib.

Damage to Geib’s 2010 Dodge Ram is estimated to be $23,300.00 and the Toyota Tacoma, owned by  Throckmorton, has estimated damages of $17,500.00; effectively totaling both vehicles.

Injuries are unknown, but Throckmorton was seen sitting on the ground after the accident holding a child.

The accident was investigated by the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Department, and was assisted by the Oskaloosa Fire Department as well as Mahaska Health Partnership’s Paramedics.
