Maxine Floor

Oskaloosa. Maxine Floor, 97, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born Sunday, August, 17, 1913, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Robert Austin and Eva Marie Hummel Beach. Following school she worked at the old Cedar Creamery. In 1928, she was married to Dallas Goff in Oakland, California and later divorced. On December 24, 1938, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Floor at Ottumwa, and he died June 22, 1982. Early on, she helped her husband on their farm northeast of Oskaloosa until they moved into Oskaloosa in 1972. She also worked at Skelgas and later at Mahaska Motel as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1979. Maxine enjoyed roller skating and square dancing in the 40’s and 50’s, playing the piano and organ, cooking and reading. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa.

She is survived by her two sons: David A. Goff of Bellvue, Colorado and Glen A. (& Dee) Goff of Sun City, Arizona; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

Besides her husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons: Jerry L. and Gene B. Goff.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Michael Omundson officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin after 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present at the funeral chapel Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice.
