Heurlin Birdies Way to League Laurel

William Penn University Athletics

Oskaloosa–Viktor Heurlin (Fr., Stockholm, Sweden, Frans Schartau HS) posted the best round of his first collegiate campaign and for his efforts he was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week.

Heurlin carded a score of one-over 72 to place third overall out of a 125-player field at the Simpson Spring Invitational last Wednesday.  In doing so, he helped lead the Statesmen to a runner-up finish, just two strokes from the title with a 300 (+16).

The freshman recorded birdies on holes 12 and 16 in addition to 13 pars and three bogeys at the Indianola Country Club.

For the year, Heurlin owns a 77.9 stroke average over 15 rounds, including ten rounds in the 70s.  He has led the Statesmen in both of their spring tournaments and has been tops for Penn a total of three times.

It is the first weekly league honor for the program this year and is believed to be the first one since Penn joined the MCC in 2001-2002.
