Free|Five campaign at Central College March 27-April 2

PELLA — Central College’s campus ministries, along with intercultural life, CAB, FCA and InterVarsity, will launch the Free|Five campaign the week of March 27. The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness about human trafficking and provide students and the community with opportunities to join the global abolitionist movement.

Kicking off the week is Mark Wexler, president of the Not For Sale Campaign, Sunday at 9 p.m. Other events include the film “At the End of Slavery,” a coffeehouse concert, and information booths in Maytag.

A special benefit concert Saturday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. will feature Fades Away, Syndrome of Fire, Smotz, The Salt and While We Were Lost. All campaign proceeds will go to the International Justice Mission to free victims of human trafficking. The International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that works toward justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression.

Central College hopes to raise $5,000, roughly the cost of funding one rescue mission with the International Justice Mission.
