Relay for Life Kick-off Helps Teams Organize

Mahaska County Relay for Life "Open House" helped to kick off the event for this year

The Mahaska County Relay for Life “Open House” Kick-Off was on Tuesday, March 22nd from 4 to 7 pm in the Cedar Bluff Conference Room at Mahaska Health Partnership.

The purpose of the event was to sign up walkers for the event. The different teams come and pick up their information and packets needed for the event fund-raising.

The Relay will take place during the overnight of July 8 and 9th, with walking beginning at 6 p.m. July 8th and continuing until 6 a.m. Saturday July 9th, 2011 on the square in Oskaloosa.

There will be different fun events going on during the night such as themed walks and laps, a cake walk, and a frozen t-shirt contest- where you have to break the shirt out of ice and attempt to get it on the quickest to win.

They are also sponsoring a “Ladies Night Out” that benefits the 2011 Relay for life. It takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.Friday, March 25th, at the Kinsmen’s Keep located at 302 n. A St. in Oskaloosa.

They will be enjoying an evening with appetizers, a fashion show, makeovers, wine tasting, a purse auction and door prizes. There will be vendors on hand for demonstrations of jewelry, makeup, cooking and more.

Cost to attend is $20.00 per person and the tickets are available at MidwestOne Bank, Valley Bank and Mahaska Title.
