Mahaska County Emergency Management – Incoming Weather‏

Weather Map for March 22nd, 2011

Following a conference call with the National Weather Service today I wanted to share what they are predicting.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE EVENING. SOME OF THE STORMS ARE LIKELY TO BECOME SEVERE LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. LARGE HAIL WILL BE THE PRIMARY THREAT…WITH HIGH WINDS SECONDARY. A FEW STORMS MAY PRODUCE TORNADOES LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE VERY EARLY EVENING HOURS.

Predictions show that we are in a area with 30% chance of hail and 10% chance of tornado activity.

As new information comes out I will be updating http://www.mahaskaready.com/Weather_Information_71QO.html

Any alerts will go out over the Nixle system so encourage friends and family to sign up. http://www.mahaskaready.com/Nixle.html
