Statesmen of the Week: Christian Benning and Emilie Bojorquez-McFadden

Oskaloosa–Football player Christian Benning (So., Streator, Illinois, Business Management) and women’s volleyball player Emilie Borjorquez-McFadden (Sr., Surprise, Ariz., Biology) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of October 19-25.

Benning totaled 240 passing yard last Saturday in a 70-0 win over Clarke, including a 16-yard touchdown pass. The sophomore also posted his highest completion percentage of the year, connecting on 15 of his 20 passes.

Borjorquez-McFadden was a key contributor for the Statesmen last week, beginning with nine kills, eight digs, and six blocks against St. Ambrose last Tuesday. Then in William Penn’s 3-0 sweep over Culver-Stockton last Saturday, the senior recorded 17 points with 12 kills and five aces. Bojorquez-McFadden just missed a double-double as she also posted nine digs.
