Sewell’s Big Day Results in Heart Player of the Week Laurel

Oskaloosa–Rhyan Sewell (Fr., Little Elm, Texas, Kinesiology) put up residence in the opponent backfield last Saturday, and for his efforts he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week Monday.

Sewell, a first-time weekly honoree, helped William Penn rally past Central Methodist 23-17 last Saturday.

The freshman had seven tackles, including five for a loss of yards. Three of those five tackles for loss were actually quarterback sacks. To top it off, Sewell forced two fumbles as well.

For the year, Sewell has 24 tackles (12.5 for loss) with 7.5 sacks. He has also forced five fumbles and recovered two.

The award is the second for WPU this year.

On note, Sewell has also been selected by social media account NAIAFBALL as its Defensive Player of the Week. It is his second award from NAIAFBALL.
