Statesmen of the Week–Kaedyn Funnell-Wong and Cristina Velazquez Miranda

Oskaloosa–The men’s golfer Kaeydn Funnell-Wong (Fr., Auckland, New Zealand, General Accounting) and women’s soccer player Cristina Velazquez Miranda (So., Antequera, Spain, Exercise Science) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of September 14-20.

Funnell-Wong placed sixth at the Missouri Valley Invitational last Monday and Tuesday. The freshman recorded 12 birdies and one eagle during the week, posted a score of 71 in each of his three rounds for a final tally of 213.

Velazquez Miranda, heralded for her play on the defensive end, found the back of the net when she scored William Penn’s lone goal against Baker on Saturday. The sophomore helped WPU shut out the Wildcats on their way to a 1-0 victory.

Additionally, Velazquez Miranda also led the Statesmen to a 3-1 victory over St. Ambrose last Wednesday.
