WPU Opens Busy Weekend at Columbia

Columbia, Mo.–The Statesmen cheer squad started a multi-tournament weekend by competing at the Columbia Cougar Classic Friday.

William Penn finished fourth out of five squads with 69.18 points, while Saint Mary (Kan.) took the meet crown with a score of 93.86 points.

“Over the past two weeks, we have upgraded our routine to the potential it could have by making adjustments, adding more people, and adding more skill,” Head Coach Abby Reynolds said. “Tonight was a good test run of getting it out there and there were a lot of great highlights. We just need to zone in on a couple things and really keep pushing.”

Next Up: The Statesmen return to Oskaloosa Sunday to host the William Penn Classic. WPU will perform at 1:45 p.m.
