Helmick Picks Up First Weekly Honor of 2024

Oskaloosa–Matt Helmick (Sr., Fullerton, Calif., Business Management) quarterbacked his squad to a pair of top-15 victories, and for his work he garnered the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Setter of the Week award Monday.

Helmick notched his first laurel of the year (third of his career) as he helped William Penn to a 2-0 record.

The senior assisted 32 times last Friday as WPU defeated #14 Lourdes (Ohio) in straight sets. He also tallied one kill, five digs, and one block assist in the matchup.

The next day, Helmick managed 41 assists with one kill and four digs versus #9 Menlo (Calif.) in a 3-1 victory.

For the season, Helmick has 223 assists (10.14 per set) along with six kills, one ace, 31 digs, and four block assists.

The award is the first of the year for WPU.
