The Oskaloosa City Band May Be Done For The Season, But Next Year Will Be Historic
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Just like that, the Oskaloosa City Band ended their season in the first part of August. The Thursday evening tradition in downtown Oskaloosa has become something that connects the generations.
At the last concert, the band played a selection from pop superstar Taylor Swift while looking forward to what the future may hold for the band.
Oskaloosa City Band Director Bruce Peiffer said of the music selection, “I just tried to find something that everybody likes, for the young and the old, so that the young are building memories,” said Peiffer, on the hopes those memories will encourage the next generation to continue coming back in the future.
Next year will mark 160 years of the Oskaloosa City Band, and Peiffer says that folks can reach out on the band’s Facebook page to offer suggestions that may help make the year even more special.
Peiffer said he and the band have appreciated the communities support. “It’s one of the best things in Iowa.”
