NM Shoots Past TC

NEW SHARON – North Mahaska seniors Trace Goemaat and Nash Smith led a quartet of golfers Thursday to win 177-215 over Tri-County at Prairie Knolls in New Sharon. NM had four of the top five scores to score the South Iowa Cedar League win.

Goemaat and Smith each shot a 7-over-par 42. Goemaat won a card off over Smith for medalist honors. Brock Walkup was third for the Warhawks with a 44 and Jaxon Van Der Veer shot a 49.

Tri-County was led by Levi Molyneux, who fired a 9-over-par 46. Molyneux was followed by Jayden Smith with a 53, Gaige Mercer 55 and Michael VerPloeg 61. Corby Thomas shot an 83.

Jack Kelderman shot a 49 and Nolan Andersen a 52 but did not figure into the North Mahaska scoring.

Tri-County’s Natalie Smith was the lone female player and shot a 70 for medalist honors.

Cole Garman and Jeremiah Ashman played junior varsity for North Mahaska carding a 56 and 77 respectively.

North Mahaska will play at North English on Monday.
