Johnson Picked for League Award

Oskaloosa–Showalter Johnson (So., Nassau, Bahamas, Business Management) punched his ticket for outdoor nationals and also garnered a weekly accolade as he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Monday.

Johnson won his second career laurel (first of the year) after qualifying for NAIA Nationals at the Central Dutch Invitational last Friday.

The sophomore placed second in the 100-meter dash with a provisional-standard time of 10.59 seconds. Johnson has now earned a qualification in all four possible national championships during his collegiate career.

He also placed third in the 200-meter dash in 21.71 seconds.

Johnson currently has the fastest 100 time in the Heart and is third in the 200; he is 24th in the NAIA in the 100.

The award is the third for WPU this year.
