Statesmen of the Week: Cameron Hargrove and Cydnee Whiteleather
Oskaloosa–Men’s wrestler Cameron Hargrove (So., Bolingbrook, Ill., Undecided) and women’s bowler Cydnee Whiteleather (Jr., Lehigh Acres, Fla., Elementary Education) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of November 7-13, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.
Hargrove owned a 4-2 record last week, beginning with defeating Tyler Okada of Waldorf 7-3 last Tuesday. The sophomore then tallied three more wins at the Grand View Open last Saturday, all via decision. He was two victories away from placing in the top six. Hargrove’s two losses came by a combined four points, including a one-point setback to Julian Hernandez of Life (Ga.) who is ranked #3 in the NAIA.
Whiteleather paced the Statesmen at the ISYL Leatherneck Classic last weekend. The junior finished 15th out of 281 bowlers during Saturday’s qualifying with a 196.5 average in six games (1,179 total pins). Her effort, which included two games over 200, helped the Statesmen qualify for the match play event as the #4 seed, where they advanced to the semifinal round.
