WPU Remains in Top Three
Oskaloosa–After suffering its first league loss, the William Penn men’s volleyball team reeled off another long winning streak to keep itself in a lofty position as the NAIA released its fourth top-15 poll Wednesday.
WPU (18-3), which was 8-1 in this last ratings period (last night’s loss to Park did not figure into this rating), dropped one spot to #3 with 192 points. The Statesmen defeated a pair programs receiving votes during the last two weeks.
William Penn is one of six Heart of America Athletic Conference programs in the poll with Grand View now #1. Missouri Baptist is #11, while Mount Mercy is #13 and Park is #15. Missouri Valley is among the receiving votes group, unofficially 18th.
Grand View’s #1 ranking comes with 212 points and 11 first-place votes, while Ottawa (Ariz.) is second with the final first-place nod. Vanguard (Calif.) and Menlo (Calif.) follow WPU in the top five.
William Penn travels to St. Louis, Mo. Friday to face Missouri Baptist in Heart action at 7 p.m.
