Stanley, Evans Named Statesmen of the Week

Oskaloosa–Men’s wrestler Makail Stanley (Fr., Oreana, Ill., Biology) and women’s bowler Gabi Evans (Jr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of December 13-19, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.

Stanley owned a 3-0 record last Thursday at the Missouri Valley Clash Duals. His week was highlighted by a second-period pin over the #20-ranked wrestler in the NAIA.

Evans was the top individual bowler at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational Saturday and Sunday. The junior knocked down 1,912 pins over nine games for a 212.4 average. Her weekend included six games over 200, headlined by a career-high 269. Four of her games were actually better than her career high entering this season. Her efforts guided William Penn to the #4 seed for match play, and the Statesmen outperformed that seeding by reaching the championship match.
