Sherman Named Honorable-Mention All-American
Oskaloosa–Ben Sherman (Grad., Troy, Pa., Master’s of Sports Management) concluded a record-breaking career by earning national accolades as the AFCA NAIA All-America teams were announced Monday.
Sherman received Honorable-Mention status, one of 55 players to collect such recognition. An additional 25 players were named to both the First Team and the Second Team.
Sherman’s honor is his first; it is also the 44th All-American award in William Penn football program history.
The fullback was one of the nation’s top backs in 2021, rushing 224 times for 1,303 yards and 17 touchdowns. He ranked sixth in the NAIA in rushing yards this year and tied for fifth in rushing scores. His 118.5 yards per game average was also seventh nationally.
Sherman eclipsed the century mark five times this fall, including two games that surpassed 200 yards. His 247 yards against Clarke on November 6 was a career high.
For his career, Sherman broke William Penn’s record with 3,874 yards on 678 carries. He scored 36 touchdowns overall.
