WPU Hits Links in Arkansas
Mountain Home, Ark.–The Statesmen men’s golf team headed south for some new scenery as it competed in the Battle at Big Creek Monday and Tuesday.
William Penn finished seventh out of 10 teams with a two-day score of 626 (303-323) at the par-72 Big Creek Golf Course. Fellow Heart of America Athletic Conference foe Park topped the team standings at 582 (293-289). Headlining the Pirates’ win was medalist Matt Percy who finished at three-under 141 (70-71).
Spencer Tucker (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Business Management) was a bit off Percy’s pace, tying for 11th at 151 (76-75).
Andrew Lallier (Jr., Algona, Iowa) was in the top 20 as well, tying for 14th at 152 (75-77). Ethan Kaiser (Sr., Belle Plaine, Iowa, Elementary Education) took bronze on the team as he shot 162 (77-85) to end up in a tie for 42nd.
Austin Hafner (Fr., Oskaloosa, Iowa) tied for 45th at 163 (75-88), while David Decker (Grad., Peyton, Colo., Physical Education) closed out the varsity scoring at 168 (82-86) to tie for 56th.
Brock Hartley (So., Wilton, Iowa, Business Management) also made the trek as an individual and ended up 63rd at 177 (87-90).
Next Up: William Penn wraps up its regular season next Wednesday in Moravia by hosting the William Penn Triangular at The Preserve Golf Course.
