8th Grade Girls Win Against Newton

Last night our 8th grade girls basketball team took on Newton and we were victorious in every single game! The A team won by a score of 35-10 led by Macie Krier, Aubree Blanco and Gracce Flarehty whom all scored 8 points a piece. We had many open looks to the basket due to our great guard play and aggressive post ups. The first game of the season is always tough on a team due to not knowing the mental and physical toughness needed to succeed. Coach Knoot and I saw from all teams the “unselfish and team player” mentality we have witnessed in practice these first couple weeks.

The second game resulted in another Indian win but in a more dramatic fashion. The girls were down most of the game but kept the score within reach. Then with less than 1 minute to go our girls put in a 2 point basket that gave us the lead which led us to victory. The final score was 17-13. Coach Knoot and I were proud of the girls willingness to not give up on themselves and their teammates.

The final game also resulted in another victory for our girls. They were in control the entire game and ended up winning 12-0. This is by far one of the most unselfish groups we have seen play basketball. There were multiple times one of our girls had an open 2 footer but decided to give it to their teammate for the same exact shot. Nice job to our girls and Go Indians!
