7th Grade Volleyball Finished Season This Week

The 7th grade volleyball girls finished out their season with games on Monday and Tuesday of this week. They would play Pella on Monday and Knoxville on Tuesday.

The A team would sweep the Dutch for the season to move their record to 8-0 with scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 25-15. The team was once dominate from the service line with a total of 30 aces. Lucy Roach would lead the team with 10 aces, 8 kills, and 1 dig followed by Presley Blommers with 7 aces, 1 kill and 2 digs, Faith VanMersbergen with 5 aces, 2 kills and 1 dig, Maleah Walker with 4 aces, 5 kills, and 1 dig, Kaia Cook with 4 aces and 1 dig, and Hailey Landers with 3 aces, 3 kills and 4 digs.

The B team would battle in 3 very close matches, but would fall with scores of 23-25, 25-19, and 21-15. The team was led by Adriana Ramos with 6 aces and 2 digs followed by Mallory Bihn with 5, Katelynn Marsh with 3 aces and 1 dig, Ally Nolan with 1 ace and Lily McKay with 1 dig.

The C/D team would look to avenge an earlier loss to the Dutch. The girls showed their improvement over the season and would split with Pella with scores of 16-25, 30-28, 19-25, 15-25, 25-15, and 25-17. The team was led by Macy Braden with 16 aces followed by Alley Bunnell with 10, Isabelle Larson with 6, Skylar Long-Meyer with 5, Morgan Ford and Ava Doty with 2 and Shakira Shillings, Anddalyn Ide, and Delaney Crouse with 1 each.

Tuesday against Knoxville

The A-team would look to finish their season undefeated, but several close games not falling in their favor would lead to their first lost of the season with scores of 13-15, 10-15, 14-16, 15-7, 16-14. The team would be led by Blommers with 6 aces, 1 kill and 1 dig, Roach with 6 aces, 4 kills and 1 dig, VanMersbergen with 4 aces, Walker with 2 aces, 2 kills, and 1 dig, Cook with 2 aces and 1 dig and Kynedi Humphrey with 2 aces, 1 kill and 1 dig. The team would finish the season with an 8-1 record.

The B-team would also battle hard, but would lose several close games to close out their season. The scores were 5-15, 17-15, 8-15, 17-16, and 11-15. The team was led by Bihn with 6 aces followed by Ramos, Nolan, Landers with 1 ace each. McKay would have a dig and Marsh a kill.

The C/D team would complete the sweep of the Panthers with winning 8 out of 10 games with scores of 5-15, 15-11, 15-10, 15-8, 9-15, 15-8, 15-12, 15-6, 15-9, and 15-7. The team was led by Larson with 9 aces followed by Braden and Bunnell with 8, Shillings and Doty with 6, Long-Meyer with 5, Ide with 3 and Ford with 1.

“The season was a blast to watch the girls go from never having played volleyball to understanding the fundamentals of the game and putting them to use in matches. Every girl worked hard and improved and we are looking forward to seeing what this group can do as the move up each year!”
