4th Annual Live United 5K Run & Family Day Pre-Registration Ends April 20th

April 11, 2012 – Oskaloosa, IA – The United Way of Mahaska County is holding their fourth annual Live United 5K Run & Family Day on Saturday April 28th at the Penn Activity Center on the William Penn University campus.

Race day registration for the 5K Run/Walk begins at 8:00 a.m. Pre-registration for the race is $25 and ends April 20th. To pre-register for the 5K race, visit the website at http://www.active.com/running/oskaloosa-ia/live-united-5k-and-family-day-2012, or go to active.com and search LIVE UNITED. Race day registration is available for $30, and any registrations after April 20th will not receive an event day t-shirt.

The purpose of the 5K Run/Walk and Family Fun Day is to raise awareness of individual basic needs and the support being offered through local non-profit agencies. Family day events will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and include numerous free kid-friendly activities such as face-painting, crafts, games, inflatables, community booths and much more.

At 10:00 a.m., the William Penn University Football Team will be sponsoring a Kick, Pass & Punt competition open to children ages 4 – 12. Sign up for the KPP event will be held at the PAC on race day. This year the event will also be featuring the William Penn Cheerleading Squad as well as the William Penn Mascot where the group will be offering free on-site pictures with both the squad and mascot.

A free picnic-style lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Entertainment will be provided by Sound Extremes.
