Yuvonne Louise Benge, 74, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Ottumwa, died January 25, 2019, at Crystal Heights in Oskaloosa. She was born October 14, 1944, in Bethany, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas Arthur Boswell and Irma Lee Boswell.
Yuvonne graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1963. Following high school, she worked various restaurant jobs while attending school.
Yuvonne was united in marriage to Richard Leroy Benge on April 28, 1973 in Knoxville. Richard died July 14, 2003.
Yuvonne eventually went to work at Griffin Nursing Home and other various nursing facilities in the Oskaloosa and Knoxville area. She earned her Certified Nursing Assistant license and she continued to work in care facilities until her retirement in the early 2000’s.
She attended and was a member of Open Bible Church in Ottumwa. Yuvonne loved embroidery, quilting, and needlework. She loved to spend time fishing and camping with her husband. In addition, she enjoyed having her granddaughters stay at her house.
Her family included her three children: Connie (& Robin) Playle of Oskaloosa, Harold (& Kelly) Benge of Oskaloosa, and R.D. (& Sharon) Benge of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Holly (& Sean) Cully of Dallas Center and Jennifer (& Joey) Wissler of University Park; nine great grandchildren: Caleb, Jayden, Emily, Ivan, Corey, Hailey, Adelynn, Taylor, and Arieanna; and two brothers, Norman Boswell of Ottumwa and Ricky Boswell of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Richard Benge.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Sean Cully officiating.
Burial will be in the Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation– The family will be at the funeral chapel from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
