WPU Upended by Peru State

Peru, Neb.—Statesmen women’s volleyball hit the road for the third straight contest as they took on Peru State in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

William Penn (6-8, 1-4 Heart) was upended in three sets by the Wildcats (4-13, 1-3 Heart) by the scores of 25-23, 25-16, and 28-26.

The ladies were outhit by the home squad .059-.200 as the offense never really found its rhythm.

Libby Zorn (Jr., Billings, Mont., History) was the lone Statesmen hitter to tally double-digit kills with 10 on 28 attempts as Corrin Lepper (So., Jefferson City, Mo., Exercise Science) and Cecily Liphardt (Fr., Lincoln, Neb., Psychology) each added six themselves.

Annalise Whitcomb (Jr., Humboldt, Kan.) produced 20 assists for her squad in the setback.

Defensively, the navy and gold got a quality performance from both Cameryn Campbell (Jr., Jefferson City, Mo.) and Casi Gacusana (Sr., Kea’au, Hawaii, Biology) had 12 and 19 kills respectively.

Next Up: William Penn will return to their home court after three games on Friday, Sept. 20, as they take on Evangel in Heart of America Athletics Conference play.
