Fayette, Mo.–The Statesmen women’s soccer team, unfortunately, could not keep pace with its talented foe on the road Saturday, falling 6-0 to #24 Central Methodist in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.

William Penn (4-5-1, 0-4 Heart) was outshot 26-4 and permitted three goals in each half.

CMU (8-3, 3-1 Heart) scored right away in the first minute and then again in the 16th and 27th minutes before duplicating that performance after halftime.

Four different Statesmen managed a shot in the contest while starting goalkeeper Hayley Brothers (Fr., Bonner Springs, Kan., Exercise Science) stopped five attempts between the pipes.

“We, unfortunately, struggled to deal with Central Methodist’s attacking players tonight and came up short,” Head Coach Jaymee Highcock said. “We now look forward as we prepare for Grand View.”

Next Up: William Penn returns to Oskaloosa next Wednesday to host Grand View in Heart play at 5 p.m.
