WPU Falls to Grand View

Des Moines–The Statesmen women’s wrestling team returned to action Thursday, but unfortunately could not come away with the upset in a 43-1 Heart of America Athletic Conference loss to Grand View.

William Penn (1-1, 0-1 Heart), which was on the mat for the first time since its season opener on December 9, was already behind the proverbial eight ball as it forfeited at five weights.

Each of the five contested weight classes were finished early via fall or technical fall in favor of the Vikings, but Mami Selemani (Fr., Iowa City, Iowa) was able to tally a point (both in her match and for her team) in an 11-1 technical fall setback to Chloe Krebsbach at 123 pounds.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Fayette, Mo. Friday to face Central Methodist in Heart action at 6 p.m.
