Winifred Weatherwax- Sheard, 92, of Aurora, Illinois and formerly of Oskaloosa died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the Elmwood Care Center in Aurora.

Winifred was born Monday, December 19, 1921 in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothea M. Whitsell Gibson. Following school, Winifred helped raise her younger brothers and sisters and did work around the house. She was married to Raymond Weatherwax and he later died. She was then married to Albert Sheard and he later died. Winifred always had a great love for animals.

She is survived by her nieces: Shirley (& Martin) Carrizalez of Aurora, Illinois, Beth (& Chad) Allen of Charleston, South Carolina, Donna Gibson of Summerville, South Carolina, and Paula Gibson of Texas; a sister-in-law: Elizabeth “Betty” Gibson; and several grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two husbands; her parents; three brothers: Earl E., Jerry and Bill Gibson; two sisters: Georgia Schwab and Anne Gibson; two nieces: Marsha Rust and Sandra Kay; and four nephews: Stephen and Clarence “Buck” Schwab, Lee Gibson, and Glen Gibson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 10 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Tom Boomershine officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Visitation will begin Tuesday after 2 P.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present at the funeral chapel Tuesday from 5 -7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter.
