William Penn Up to #23 in First Regular Poll

Oskaloosa–The Statesmen women’s golf program continues to eclipse new milestones as the NAIA’s first top-25 poll was released Friday.
William Penn is 23rd in the rating with 80 points. The ranking is the new highest in school history, one spot higher than its previous best of #24 in the preseason poll.
During the fall, the Statesmen placed first in three events, second in three more, and sixth (out of 21 teams) at the NAIA Preview in September.
SCAD Savannah (Ga.) is the new #1, improving one spot from its preseason spot. The program owns 306 points and eight first-place votes. Lubbock Christian (Texas) and Cal State-San Marcos are second and third with two first-place votes each, while Oklahoma City and British Columbia round out the top five.
Fellow Midwest Collegiate Conference foe Grand View is unofficially 30th with 30 points.
“It is nice moving up in the ranking as it shows that people are starting to respect our program,” Head Coach Nik Rule said. “But right now that is all this is–a ranking. We have to start and finish our spring season strong to prove we deserve it.”
William Penn was supposed to start its spring slate this weekend, but the Quinsippi Collegiate was cancelled due to poor weather. The Statesmen will now look to open the season next Sunday and Monday by hosting the Iowa Intercollegiate Championships in Moravia at The Preserve Golf Course.
