William Penn to Offer Pair of New Shows

Oskaloosa–The William Penn Athletic Communications office is excited to announce the creation of two new productions–a podcast and a coaches’ show.

The new shows will give the Statesmen fanbase an even deeper look into William Penn and its athletic teams.

The podcast, which will be named ‘Coffee With Statesmen’, will be hosted at Smokey Row Coffee Shop and begin on Tuesday, September 10. Co-hosts and Communications Department Graduate Assistants Jared Goodman and Justin Burtis will provide a laid-back program focused more on the personal side of their guests, whom will come from all corners of the WPU campus. The frequency of ‘Coffee with Statesmen’ episodes is undetermined at this point.

“We are super excited to bring this podcast to Statesmen Nation!” Goodman said. “We will be diving into the perspectives of coaches and players beyond what you see on the field or court. We do this with the intention of bringing our coaches and players closer to our fans, as well as the community. Being that we are hosting this podcast at Smokey Row, a centerpiece in the Oskaloosa community, we hope to bring a unique perspective, while continuing to build strong community ties.”

On the other end of the spectrum, ‘Inside The Playbook’ is expected to be a more traditional type of question-and-answer, X’s-and-O’s production. A collaboration with Oskaloosa News and hosted in the company’s office in Penn Central Mall, the program will be hosted by WPU Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Wade Steinlage and will feature Statesmen coaches and student-athletes chatting about their respective teams, highlighted by breakdowns of recent contests and upcoming events. The first episode will air on Thursday, September 12 with subsequent shows being broadcast weekly.

Both programs will be streamed on the Statesmen Sports Network and available on the William Penn University app. ‘Inside the Playbook’ will also be broadcast on the Oskaloosa News website (www.oskynews.org), while ‘Coffee with Statesmen’ will eventually be available for free download on iTunes.
