Las Vegas, Nev.–Five individuals averaged over 180 pins per game to guide the Statesmen women’s bowling team to another strong performance at the Las Vegas Collegiate Shoot-Out Wednesday and Thursday.

William Penn placed eighth out of 23 teams with 10,201 pins in six regular games and four sets of Baker games. Wichita State (Kan.) won the team crown with 11,774 pins, while WSU’s Sierra Kanemoto led qualifying with a 231.3 average.

Bailey Palmer (So., Ottumwa, Iowa, Undecided) headlined the navy and gold efforts with a 193.7 clip. Amber Ovel (Jr., Waterloo, Iowa, Business Management) was next with a 183.2 mark, while Nicole Craft (So., Wakefield, Neb., Physical Education) had a 181.5 average. All three individuals started all six games.

Audra Farley (Sr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Education) averaged 187.3 pins in four rounds; Abbey Fangman (Fr., Waterloo, Iowa, Elementary Education) also started four games and posted a 170.3 clip.

Kayla Gifford (So., Camanche, Iowa, Biology) was strong in her two starts with a squad-high 205.5 average. Kaylee Gerken (Jr., Dubuque, Iowa, Elementary Education) (159.5) started two games as well.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Addison, Ill. on January 20-21 to compete in the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic.
