William “Budd” Fox, Sr., 78, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. He was born Sunday, April 8, 1934 in Oskaloosa the son of George and Helen De Hoot Fox. Following school he worked for several years at Pothoven’s Gas Station, Jimmy Kerr Construction, Manatts & Carter Inc., and lastly at Oskaloosa Engineering in Oskaloosa for 15 years until his retirement in 1984. In 1960 he was united in marriage to Thelma Tish Fox and they later divorced, from this union 3 children were born: David, Marilyn, and James. On April 8, 1969, he was united in marriage to Sandra K. Mathews and she died April 13, 2005. From this union two sons were born, William Bud Jr. and Thomas Lee. He was an outdoors-man and enjoyed fishing, playing pool, karaoke, and being with his friends. He was a social member of the Oskaloosa V.F.W. On that day he put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and his name was added to the book of life.

Budd is survived by; a daughter: Marilyn (& Calvin) Fox- Visser of University Park; 3 sons: David Dean (& Noreen Yarbrough) Fox of Malcolm, Iowa, William “Bud” (& Kathy) Fox, Jr. of Oskaloosa, and Thomas Lee Fox of Cardington, Ohio; 10 grandchildren: Amanda Grossclose, Jack Mortimer, Jr., Breanna Grossclose, Duncan McLeod, Holly Terpstra, Christopher Beadle, Bradley Beadle, Preston Visser, James Thomas, and Sarah Fox; 5 great grandchildren; a brother: Richard (& Pat) Fox of Oskaloosa; and two sisters: Pat Fox of Oskaloosa, and Inez Long of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son: James Allen Fox; a grandson: James Ray Beadle; 6 brothers: Robert, George, Mike, Johnny, Donald, and Jerry Fox; 4 sisters: Genevieve Fox, Mary Jane Kerr, Joan Sweeney, and Linda Raines.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012, at 10 A.M. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Ed Fagen officiating.
Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Eddyville.
Visitation will begin Friday after 5 P.M. with the family present from 5 – 7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.

Memorials may be made to the Budd Fox Memorial Fund.
