August 20, 2026

Council Bluffs, IA – The No. 11 nationally ranked Indian Hills Women’s Soccer squad earned a 1-1 draw in the season opener with No. 20 rated Casper College (WY) at the Wiebe Complex on the campus of Iowa Western Community College on Thursday afternoon.

Freshman Victoria Yim (Oakville, Canada/Oakville Trafalgar) netted the Warriors’ first goal of the season to eliminate a 1-0 deficit early in the second period. The Indian Hills defense stood tall the rest of the way to earn the season-opening tie with the Thunderbirds.

The Warriors have now earned a result in 11 of the last 12 season openers, moving to 9-1-2 overall during the stretch.

Sophomore Annabelle Combes (Marseille, France/Tezenas du Montcel) put up a valiant effort in net for the Warriors to earn the result. Combes stopped eight shots over the course of the full 90:00 of action.

Casper struck first in the 18th minute after the Thunderbird offense corralled a loose ball at the top of the box. Casper fended off the Warriors to hold the 1-nil lead heading into the halftime intermission.

The Warriors pushed the Thunderbirds to open the second half and finally struck paydirt at the 59:56 mark to even the match. Jenna Kaarina Vornanen (Helsinki, Finland/Stadin AO) and Pamela Martin (Maracay, Venezuela/Dawere International) teamed up in the box to find Yim in front of the net. The freshman buried the close-range strike for her first collegiate goal.

Indian Hills’ trip to Council Bluffs will extend to Saturday with a matchup vs. Illinois Central Community College. The two sides will square off at 1:00 PM at the Wiebe Complex.
