WARRIORS SWEEP GRIZZLIES TO EXTEND HOME WINNING STREAK

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Volleyball team bounced back with an impressive sweep of Missouri State University – West Plains on Wednesday night, dropping the visiting Grizzlies in straight sets at the Hellyer Center. The Warriors improve to 6-7 overall on the year.
Indian Hills swept West Plains in straight sets for the second consecutive matchup between the two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Midwest District foes. The Warriors rolled past the Grizzlies by set scores of 25-16, 26-24, and 25-23.
The Warriors have now won 19 consecutive matchups at the historic Hellyer Center dating back to the 2023 campaign.
After dropping three consecutive matches over the weekend, Indian Hills rallied back with authority on Wednesday, setting the tone against the Grizzlies with an impressive first set victory. The Warriors capitalized on a 10-2 run to run away for the early lead in the opening frame. Indian Hills held off a late surge in set two from the Grizzlies to take a commanding 2-0 lead before finishing off the visitors in the finale thanks to a strong third set from freshman Elsa Dermis Cuevas Perez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Matias Ramon Mella).
Cuevas Perez tallied a team-high 10 kills on 23 attempts for a .304 hitting percentage. Sophomore Ana Silva (Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil/Major Aviador José Mariotto) paced a well-rounded attack from the offensive front with 15 assists and a pair of service aces.
The Warriors played to their height once again at the net with 14 total blocks, including four from Alisha Perez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/IMG Academy) and three from Caroline Le Mao (Douarnenez, France/ESG).
Indian Hills jumps right back into action Thursday with a trip to Mattoon, IL for the Laker Classic. The Warriors will take on host Lake Land Community College (IL) at 2:00 PM followed by a 5:30 PM date with Eastern Florida State College.
