Barnes City. Wanda Robertson, 89 of Barnes City, died Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab. Center in Oskaloosa. A graveside funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Barnes City Cemetery. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Barnes City Cemetery.

Wanda Bernice Robertson was born near Rose Hill, Iowa on April 4, 1922 the daughter of Oliver and Bertha Mae Small Mason. She grew up in the Barnes City area and was a 1941 graduate of the Barnes City High School. That same year Wanda was united in marriage to Max Lamont Robertson. In 1947 Wanda and Max opened Robertson DX Station in Barnes City. She took pride in her business and enjoyed helping her costumers however she could. After fifty years of service the station closed in 1997. She also worked several years at Montezuma Manufacturing. Wanda learned how to continue living her life after the deaths of three of her children. Undoubtedly each death had an impact on her life and made her the person she was. Wanda was a member of the Barnes City American Legion Auxiliary and attended the Methodist Church. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, playing cards and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Wanda is survived by her son Steve Robertson of Barnes City, a brother Earnest; two sisters, Ivalene (Dave) Robbins and Nancy (Larry) Doonan; seven grandsons; five great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Grace Mason.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Max; three children: Jimmy Lee, Carole Cean and Dennis Ray; five brothers: William, Oren, Norman, Walter and Paul Mason; four sisters, Edith Kinney, Ina Cox, Mae Ruby and Wilma Sanders; four sisters-in-law, Hazel Mason, LaVonne Mason, Louella Mason and Joan Mason; six brothers-in law, Oliver McNabb, Edward McClure, Everett Cox, Phillip Sanders, Lawrence Ruby and Raymond Kinney; three half sisters and their husbands, Gail (Merton) McGrew, Helen (Charlie) Garman and Allene (Lewis) Morris.
