Walk-Off Seals Win For Grinnell Against Oskaloosa Indians Varsity

Oskaloosa Indians Varsity fell to Grinnell 3-2 on Monday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at two with Grinnell batting in the bottom of the seventh when Alex Smith singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Grinnell pitchers struck out five, while Oskaloosa Indians Varsity sat down seven.

In the top of the sixth inning, Oskaloosa Indians Varsity tied things up at two. Alex Christ singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Braxton Shaffer got the start for Grinnell. The pitcher lasted four and a third innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out two.

Christ was on the pitcher’s mound for Oskaloosa Indians Varsity. The righthander surrendered two runs on two hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Jarrett Czerwinski, Marcus Fresquez, and Kamden Criss each contributed in relief for Oskaloosa Indians Varsity.

Carson Genskow, Tucker DeJong, Christ, Fresquez, Aiden North, Landon Briggs, and Criss each collected one hit to lead Oskaloosa Indians Varsity. Oskaloosa Indians Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. North had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.

Smith led Grinnell with two hits in four at bats.
