Oskaloosa–Two Statesmen grapplers have started 2013-2014 strong which has netted them some national recognition as the NAIA’s first wrestling rating was released Tuesday.

133-pounder Joao Vicente (So., East Providence, R.I., Secondary Education) is ranked sixth nationally, while Ishmael Rempson (Jr., Olympia Fields, Ill., Industrial Technology) is 12th in the nation at 165 pounds.

As a team, William Penn is unofficially 26th with 13 points.

Grand View was the preseason #1 and it remains that way with 149.5 points. The rest of the top five is also unchanged from the preseason poll with Montana State-Northern (117.5 points), Missouri Valley (86.5), Campbellsville (Ky.) (85.5), and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (73) rounding out the order.

In the Central Qualifying Group rating, William Penn has dropped a pair of spots to seventh with 31 points. Grand View leads the way with 214 points, while Missouri Valley is in the runner-up position with 178 points.

Vicente, in second, and Rempson, in fourth, are the only members of the navy and gold squad ranked in the top six at their respective weights.
